Mixed Media Smalti Mosaic

Explore mixed media smalti mosaic with artist, Sharra Frank. This class will take place in the comfort of your own home through Zoom! A lot of information will be covered so the class will be recorded and shared.

Students will receive a mosaic and smalti resource and materials guide with a class supply list by email. Students can choose to begin a mosaic with this class or to observe and practice. Project suggestions will be provided.

Sharra will share her journey and discovery of using smalti in her mosaic work after years of primarily working in stained glass, glass tile and beads. We will cover the benefits of smalti, the unique qualities it offers your mosaic work and how to integrate it into other materials for a mixed media appeal.

Students will also learn how to cut, adhere and place smalti along side a variety of other mosaic materials including glass and beads. The class will include topics such as tools, adhesives and grouting as well.

Beginner to experienced mosaic students are all welcome!
